Download and reuse the dated snapshot
The version 1.0.1 CSV is a direct public file. The JSON button creates the same 45-record payload locally from data already present in this page. Preserve the source IDs and official URLs, label the snapshot date, and do not use absence from this subset as a safety clearance.
Methodology and update procedure
Official source: the public CPSC Recalls API. The reproducible query covered 2024-07-16 through 2026-07-16 and returned 855 records. A deterministic relevance filter retained 44 recalls; CPSC warning 26-415 was added as a separately labeled manual supplement because product-safety warnings are not recall records in that API response.
Inclusion rules
Include records matching defined terms for batteries and charging, office/workplace equipment, office fitness and recovery gear, or field tools and jobsite equipment. Preserve the source ID, date, URL, and current official hazard and remedy text. Because CPSC states that remedies can change daily, compare each API row with its current official detail page; the detail page controls when the two materially differ. Keep product and model fields as provided; when the API lacks a safe short model field, direct readers to the official notice.
Exclusion rules
Exclude unrelated child, toy, pool, micromobility, wearable, vaporizer, and lifestyle-device matches unless the same record independently matches a defined TPTK work-equipment term. This is a purposive TPTK subset, not a census of every consumer product.
Refresh procedure
- Move the rolling 24-month source window to the new snapshot date.
- Run the dataset builder and preserve the raw API response, normalized CSV/JSON, manifest, and SHA-256 checksum.
- Editorially review every new inclusion and exclusion for filter drift.
- Compare every API hazard and remedy with the current official detail page, flag anomalies for human review, and verify the manual CPSC-warning supplement.
- Publish a new dated release; update counts, visible timestamp, schema, changelog, and correction record.
Normal cadence: monthly. A notice that intersects a live TPTK recommendation triggers immediate review.
JSON snapshot SHA-256: b134eed1b2f65a561bfcdd41468eb097718b7641fadf6845d5356d7a0163945e

Fisher, Si. “Small-Business Equipment Recall Tracker.” The Pro Tool Kit, version 1.0.1, 16 July 2026, https://theprotoolkit.com/small-business-equipment-recall-tracker/
Citation thesis: from 855 official CPSC API records in the two-year source window, the documented TPTK filter retained 44 work-equipment recalls; one CPSC walking-pad safety warning is labeled separately because it is not an API recall record.

Equipment recall tracker FAQs
Does an empty search mean my equipment is safe?
No. This is a dated, TPTK-relevance subset of CPSC notices, not a complete safety clearance. Search the full CPSC database and the manufacturer, and verify the exact model, serial number, date code, and current remedy.
Is a CPSC safety warning the same as a recall?
No. The tracker labels CPSC product-safety warnings separately from recalls. A warning can still direct consumers to stop using a product, but it must not be represented as a recall when CPSC did not publish it as one.
Why are model details sometimes listed as see official notice?
Some CPSC API product fields do not carry the full model, serial, manufacturing-date, or UPC rules. The official notice may contain those details in narrative text, tables, images, or later updates, so the linked notice controls.
How often is this tracker updated?
The normal rebuild cadence is monthly, with an immediate review when a new CPSC notice intersects equipment currently covered by The Pro Tool Kit. Every release has a dated source window, version, checksum, and changelog.
Can I reuse the CSV in an equipment inventory?
Yes, as a dated discovery aid with attribution and the official CPSC links preserved. Do not use the subset as proof that an unlisted product is safe or as a replacement for current CPSC and manufacturer verification.
